Anchak
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 8, 2026 · Operated by PRELAB (Republic of Korea)
The short version
We don't collect your personal data. Anchak has no accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising SDKs. What you save in the app stays on your phone. Two things leave it: anonymous usage events (which you can switch off) and text you explicitly ask us to translate.
What we collect
- Anonymous usage events — a handful of named events (for example "home opened", "guide opened", "calculator opened") with the app version, language, traveler type and platform, tied to a random device id generated by the app. No name, e-mail, location, contacts or content you typed. Switch it off anytime in Settings → Share anonymous usage stats; the switch also discards anything not yet sent.
- Text you ask us to translate — when you use "Say anything" or add a place without a Korean name, the text you typed is sent to our translation proxy and on to DeepL to be translated into Korean. It is not stored on our servers.
What stays on your device
To personalize your experience, the app stores the following only on your device:
- Your traveler type (tourist or student), arrival and departure dates, and the city you chose
- Your checklist progress and skipped items
- Places you've saved with a heart, your trip plan and "My places" (addresses you saved)
- Show Card settings (accommodation address, allergies, saved phrases) and your currency
This data never leaves your phone. Deleting the app permanently deletes it. You can also reset your checklist anytime in Settings.
Network requests the app makes
- Content updates — the app periodically checks for updated in-app content via the Expo Updates service. These requests contain basic technical information needed to deliver the right update (such as app version and platform) and are not used to identify you.
- External links — guides and the services directory link to third-party websites (official government sites, maps, transport and travel services). When you open them, those sites' own privacy policies apply.
- Phone calls — emergency and helpline numbers dial through your phone's dialer. The app does not access your call history or contacts.
- Exchange rates — the Won Calculator fetches current rates from Exchange Rate API (exchangerate-api.com). The request carries no personal data.
- Translation & usage events — see "What we collect" above. Both go to a server we run on Supabase; translation text is forwarded to DeepL.
Permissions
Anchak requests no sensitive permissions — no location, no camera, no contacts, no notifications in the current version.
Children
The app does not target children and, in any case, collects no data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change (for example, if optional accounts are introduced in a future version), this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before those features ship.
